Oostburg

Oostburg is a historic fortified town located in the municipality of Sluis, in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. With a population of approximately 4,800 inhabitants, it functions as a regional center for the West Zeeland-Flemish population by offering various shops, facilities and educational institutions such as the School for Vocational Education and Technology. The city also has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, with roaring cannons and heavy fighting during the Eighty Years' War and some of the heaviest bombings of the Second World War.

Tourists in Oostburg will enjoy a mix of historical and natural sights. These include the Castle, a ruined castle from the 13th century, the medieval St. Eligius Church with its striking tower and the picturesque nature reserve \'t Zwin. In addition, Oostburg offers a variety of local shops, catering establishments and regular events, such as the annual Zwinstedenloop and the Kadefeest in the summer. The city is easily accessible due to its geographical position near the Belgian border and is connected to surrounding regions by a network of local buses.
