Hotel de Oorsprong lies in the Frisian village of Sint Nicolaasga, near the Frisian lakes and Joure. The hotel is established in the former stud farm of the country estate of Vegilinbossen. The characteristic building from 1884 still breathes the atmosphere of times gone by. The former equerry's dwelling and the two drawing rooms are still exactly as they were in olden days. It's not hard to picture the proud, black Frisian horses grazing in the meadow in front of the stud farm. Guests can obtain free walking and cycling routes in the hotel to explore Vegilinbossen and its surroundings. What's more, golfers will appreciate the proximity of the excellent 18-hole golf course, the BurgGolf St. Nicolaasga, which lies within walking distance of the hotel.
Enjoy an aperitif in the hotel's sheltered, enclosed garden before moving on to an elaborate dinner. The rooms at Hotel de Oorsprong come with a shower, a toilet and a television. A special breakfast is served in the breakfast area in the morning, where the heavy beams on the ceiling will remind you of the stable it once was. For parties and business meetings, the hotel has six function rooms with a capacity of up to 200 persons.
Surroundings
Hotel de Oorsprong enjoys a wonderful location on the country estate of Vegilinbossen. The Tjeukermeer Lake to the west of the hotel is not only perfect for walking, cycling and swimming, but also for watersports, like sailing. You'll find an indoor and outdoor swimming pool in Joure - approximately 4.5 kilometres from the hotel - as well as an 18-hole golf course. Other nice towns to visit in the area include Langweer, Lemmer, Sneek and Sloten. The beautiful St. Nicolaaskerk Church, in Sint Nicolaasga, is also well worth seeing. You'll find a remarkable monument behind this church: a replica of the grotto at Lourdes.
Food and Drink
A continental breakfast buffet is served daily between 07:30 and 10:00. Lunch is available between 12:00 and 16:00. In the evening, the hotel offers various à la carte dishes and a good selection of wines. The seasonal menu includes traditional Frisian dishes, usually with a modern twist. Vegetarians can also enjoy delicious food here which is honestly priced.

The geographic situation,the charm of the main house(restaurant)and the breakfast-room;the quality of the breakfast.

The position of this hotel is superb.
The restaurant was outstanding and the staff very welcoming and helpful.
The room was \'old-fashioned\'. Both the toilet and the shower room were very small and poorly ventilated.
