The Grand Hotel Alkmaar is beautifully situated on the Gedempte Nieuwesloot in the centre of Alkmaar, close to shops and the city's famous Cheese Market. You can take many fun days trips from Alkmaar, for instance to the beach or to Amsterdam.

An extensive breakfast is served daily from 06:30 until 11:00. For a lovely dinner at favourable price you can visit the luxurious Restaurant Zegels. A new menu is presented each week. Guests can choose the number of courses they wish to order. Its unique feature is the wine cellar. Staff will kindly assist you in selecting a wine to complement your dinner. The restaurant is open from 17:00 until 22:00.In Brasserie/Bar X-Press you can enjoy a drink or a quick lunch/dinner. The modern cuisine and the trendy interior ensure a pleasant atmosphere. A smoking area is available in the courtyard. X-Press is open from 10:00 until 01:00.

During your stay in Grand Hotel Alkmaar the historic centre lies at your feet. The city offers an abundance of nice shops and monumental buildings. In the high season you can visit the renowned cheese market. If you would like to learn about the preparation of cheese, you are recommended to visit the cheese museum in the Waag building. By car you can easily reach the seaside resorts of Bergen and Egmond aan Zee.

“Comfortable hotel right in the centre.”

Great service, very nice location, clean.
A lot of noise from the street (we had a room at top floor at the front) on friday night and saturday early morning.

“Very nice stay in Alkmaar ”

Location is excellent, hotel is lovely.
The shower has no curtain and no privacy which for a couple might not be such a problem but for a couple of guys was not "comfortable". The breakfasts are very adequate by Dutch standards but not North American. There are no facecloths so bring your own.

Very central location. Very interesting modern conversion of the old post office. Good breakfast buffet until 11am on weekends,
Nice room but no closet to store clothes.

There was some noise room from the refrigeraton units to the kitchen outside my room windows.

Excellent location and service. Loved the old fashion lift to our top floor room. Good breakfast.
Bed was a little soft for my liking and would have liked a more high pressure shower

“This is not a 4 star hotel”

Good central location, with a brilliant Thai restaurant opposite the hotel.
Walls in room and corridoor were bubbling with damp. Shortage of staff with reception being manned by bar staff. Towels in bathroom were threadbare! Skip breakfast and eat out.

“If staying briefly, this hotel provides all of your needs,”

We booked in for the one night as we were in the city for a football match. The hotel was clean and proved to be adequate. The service was of a high standard, and very helpful. As our stay was only brief, I cannot find any faults. I would use again if in Alkmaar.
Would have liked more of a choice at breakfast.

“el mejor hotel de Alkmaar”

Hotel muy bonito, recien rehabilitado ( no creo que tenga ni un año 2008)con habitaciones de diseño amplias, comodas e impecables. Bien de precio para la calidad. La ubicación es estupenda, ya que está en pleno centro de Alkmaar, sin ser zona peatonal. El servicio muy amable
No tiene parking, y hay que ir a aparcar a la estación de tren. El desayuno deberia ser un poco mas variado.
