The centre of Alkmaar is absolutely charming, with old canals, hidden courtyards, various museums and of course the city's world-famous cheese market. Moreover, it's great to go shopping in the 'Oude Stad' (literally meaning old city) and other smaller shopping streets. Wish to seek out some peace and quiet and the beautiful countryside? Discover the villages and polders of rural Alkmaar or jump in the car and head towards the beaches of Bergen (20 mins) and Egmond aan Zee (11 mins).
Food and Drink
Breakfast is available in Brasserie D’arret on Monday to Friday from 06:30 until 10:30, and at weekends from 07:00 until 11:00. You can also take a seat in Brasserie D’arret for lunch and dinner. Tuck into delicious dishes, passionately prepared by the kitchen team. The bar is open daily from 17:00 and is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.
