In and around Van der Valk Hotel Avifauna, there is plenty to do. Due to its location in the Green Heart of the Netherlands, the hotel is an excellent base for cycling tours. The hotel rents out various bicycles, including a 7-speed bicycle and a 7-speed electric bicycle.

Other activities include a (culinary) boat cruise through the Green Heart with Rederij Avifauna. During this 1.5-hour cruise, you sail through the beautiful landscape of South Holland, passing polders, windmills, and nature reserves.

“Great hotel with bird park and playground on Rhine- offers boat tours!”

Amazing upgrades to bird park, which was quite enjoyable, fun to see kids learn as well. Loved feeding the lorikeets! Also, boat ride was great (part of offerings). Breakfast self serve on terrace was lovely; also great old rivertown with amazing town center.

“A trip to Avifauna”

Conveniently situated hotel on the outskirts of Alphen an der rijn. Hotel rooms were spacious with a good sized bathroom. Our room also had table and chairs outside. Short walk to restaurant. Food good and we had breakfast included Secure accommodation for bicycles and you could hire as well. Option to not have room made up each day in exchange for a 2.50 voucher. Free entry to Avifauna with room key for duration of stay. Hotel staff all helpful.
Proper cups mugs would have been better than paper ones. Will soon need some refurbishment to rooms.

Room, breakfast and service was really good. Staff from the hotel gave as a ride to alphen train station for free to take there the train to Rotterdam. Also they give us really useful info about train schedules and how to reach Rotterdam.

“Lunchpakket geen reclame voor de zaak”

Goed, eenvoudig hotel. Waterkoker op de kamer was wel prettig geweest.
We hadden geen tijd voor ontbijt, en bestelden een lunchpakket. Bestelden bruin brood, kregen kleffe witte bolletjes. De bananen waren keihard. Dit is echt geen tien euro waard

When we arrived in the room it was a very hot day and the first thing we noticed was that the usual air conditioner was absent. “Price, quality and needs, all within 150 metres”

Superb location next to the Bird Park, and right across the road from the Boat departure point. The adjacent restaurant has both excellent food and service. The Vander Valk staff at all these locations have all received excellent training, and have not just been thrown into the job.......and it shows. Rooms are excellent and to a very high standard. The adjacent Bird Park entrance is free to Hotel guests.
Only really two minus points. It is a bit of a trek from some room locations to go out of the front of the hotel and round the building to the car......that is if you park the car right in view of the room. The beds are very soft, too soft for our comfort, but the many plus points made up for this particular minus.
