Hotel details:
Hotel Iron Horse is a hospitable and pleasant 3-star hotel in the heart of Amsterdam, just a 5-minute walk from the lively Vondelpark and the dynamic going-out district around the Leidseplein (Leidse Square). The hotel houses 42 rooms in a stunningly renovated, historical building. Its interior is modern, warm and comfortable. The building has previously functioned as a stables for the horses of Amsterdam's mounted police. The decorative images of horses and the stable doors in the hotel's current interior playfully refer to this past.
Breakfast is available on weekdays from 07:00 until 10:00, and at weekends from 08:00 until 11:00. There are countless restaurants and cafés in the vicinity of the Iron Horse where you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner.
From Hotel Iron Horse, you'll be in the popular Vondelpark within 5 minutes. There is always something to experience here. During the summer months of June, July and August a free open air theatre is held here. Exclusive shops can be found on the P.C. Hooftstraat, the most expensive shopping street in the Netherlands offering chic designer brands specialising in clothing and jewellery. Lovers of art can visit the renowned Rijksmuseum , the Stedelijk Museum or the Hermitage. Another great place to visit is the Heineken Experience or the former working class area of the Jordaan. For an evening of theatre you can head to the Nieuwe de la Mar, the Bellevue Theater or the Melkweg, all of which are located within 300 m of the hotel.

CJ- Great location. The room was modern and very clean. Friendly staff at the reception desk. We got a great deal on the room. The heat worked well in most of the room.
- There were a few minor negative things: there was a constant humming in the room (possibly from a nearby boiler). The beds were extremely soft and bouncy (felt like soft foam) but we ended up sleeping fine. There was no heater in the bathroom so it was a bit chilly in there.

P. Felix- Good location, friendly staff - very clean and new rooms! During our 25 day stay in Europe, this was only hotel we stayed in which provided an electric kettle in the room - which was great for tea drinkers like my wife and myself!
- Bathrooms are large and new but lack a shower tray and curtain because of which, after a bath, the floor needs to be dried otherwise it remains slippery and wet for using the toilet. Bathroom also needs wall hooks for hanging your clothes.

Oleg- Renovated, clean and quiet room. Very friendly and helpful personal. Free coffee and tea in the room and at the lobby.

Waterhouse- Close to Leidseplein and close enough to town to have a nice walk along some of the canals, is also close to Museumplein where the majority of the cultural exhibitions are.
- This hotel for as nice and friendly as it was could really do with some double/king/queen sized beds for couples as I had a issue with falling down the gap of the twin beds pushed together.

Edward- Well located. Staff was overall helpful especially the good-looking girl with oriental features who as promised went out of her way to provide us with black tea which was not available at the time. Night-duty receptionist was also very helpful. His explanation on the best way to reach our destination out of the city (what tram/bus to get etc) was spot on. Good, solid connection on Wi-Fi. Handy supermarket two doors away. Unusual layout in hotel which makes it special. Used to be stables in the p
- Breakfast selection was decent but very basic. One morning we were late coming down and the bread was not very fresh. Otherwise, cannot complain about other food items. Despite this minor hitch, I would strongly recommend this accommodation. Also: We noticed one particular room did not have a window facing outwards. It was an internal room with no access to the outside - it would probably not have been a pleasant stay if we were to get that room. So advice: ask for a room with a window faci
