Hotel details:
Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam originated in 1866, although it formerly functioned as a cafe. The founder, Mr. A.W. Krasnapolsky, commissioned the construction of hotel rooms in the building. This luminous idea formed the catalyst for the makeover from small cafe to the luxurious Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Under the one roof you will find a genuine 'village', including a conference centre, fitness room, several restaurants, a convenience store and, above all, the hotel has a private jetty. In case of a long stay, seven nights or more, there is the option of reserving one of the NH Krasnapolsky Apartments.
Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam has a lot to offer in the culinary provision. You will encounter the Wintertuin (winter garden), Grand Café Mathilde, Restaurant Reflet and the Golden Palm Bar. All of these establishments emanate a unique atmosphere, though quality is what binds them. At the inhouse distillery De Liefde van Wynand Fockink you can purchase jenevers and liquors. The Winter gardenTake a seat in the Winter Garden and enjoy the international breakfast buffet. This extraordinary place to start the day from has been added to the list of new monuments of the city's Rijksmonumenten. The glass roof, supported by a construction of wood and wrought iron, covers the room with a blanket of natural light. Decorations that characterize art, trade and science have been attached to the walls. Restaurant RefletRestaurant Reflet entails a history at least as interesting as the Krasnapolsky Hotel itself and has also been adopted by the city as a preserved room. In the decoration, elements from around 1885 are preserved, under which there are several paintings and clocks. Relax and take a seat to enjoy a romantic dinner in style. You will have the choice between classical French dishes or delicacies from international cuisine. Menus change with the seasons. The restaurant is open daily from 18:00 h.Spoil yourself with a high tea or a cup of coffee accompanied by delicacies from the in-house bakery, which can be enjoyed whilst observing The Dam and the Royal Palace from Grand Café Mathilde. Also the Golden Palm Bar enables you to take a delicious cocktail.
Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam is located conveniently at the Dam square. Many areas of interest surround this famous square. Examples are The National Monument, Madame Tussauds and the Royal Palace. The Dam square is situated in an area with a considerable amount of shops, consisting of the Kalverstraat, the Nieuwendijk and Magna Plaza. Also many museums, theatres and markets are easy to access.
Staying at the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky guarantees spacious rooms, combining style and comfort. Air conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities, mini bar and room lockers are standard facilities in the rooms. Lesley- Late check out on a Sunday is wonderful. It really helpsto enjoy Amsterdam when you know you don\'t have to vacate your room too early the next day.
- Not being able to check-in until 3 as we always arrive in Amsterdam before 12.00 but it is understandable as the hotel has so many rooms to get ready for the next guests.

Sirkka Vuorio-Laine- The hotel is ok but not as luxurious as it used to be some 15 years ago. Of course the location is wonderful in the city centre. Everything is clean and everything functions on the higher standard level.
- The room was well cleaned except one morning. Maybe the stuff misunderstood our staying away. But the big misunderstanding has been that we left the post cards to the business centre where we were told that they would leave on the same day, almost two weeks ago, and they still have not arrived to their destinations. This could of course be a fault of the post organization in the NL. Sending and receiving post cards from France to Finland takes two days.
5.4
B & RJ- The hotel is situated in the heart of Amsterdam just across the royal palace. It is within easy walking distance to every place in the centre. Beautiful winter garden.
- Room was worn out and bathroon not well cleaned - old dirt in corners, every item chipped. Very unfriendly receptionist. At arrival they blocked payment of whole stay + some extra on a credit card and did not released it when we paid at check-out. Although we are back home for 5 days, the payment still blocked. We were told that that is a standard practice of the hotel and that most customers complain about that. But the hotel does not seem to mind.

M.H.Lloyd-Wolper- staff always very helpful and pleasant we have stayed many times and find the hotel one of the best we stayed in. we travel on business all over the world.
- this time housekeeping very poor never replaced sugar or water from the fridge. one day room was not cleaned at all.

ERTAUD- The room size was good, internet connection good and stable (I was there for work). Breakfast ok. I poured some wine on my trousers. The cleaner lady was able to cleaned/press it in 2 hours! that was a number one point as I had no spare pants.
- I had the room 5001 and there was a ventilation system humming that I was not able to turn off. Ask for not having this room. The internet system was not able to charge on the room number so i had to call the customer care to get a voucher from reception, a bit annoying.

Alison Thomas- I had stayed in this hotel many years ago and the stay this time was in fact just as great as it always has been. I thought that the service was impeccable and would recommend this hotel to anyone! Nothing was too much and the staff were efficient and helpful. This hotel is always a pleasure to stay at. Please pass on the message to the hotel themselves....

mel and adam- complained about poor breakfast (room service) and was very impressed at how the lady on reception dealt with us. very efficient.
- thought the food that we ordered by room service was poor.

Rudy Rivas- Overall, I\'d say the BEST Amsterdam to stay at if especially you are visiting the city for the first time and really want to be right in the center of all the major, and there are many, sites to see and places to experience. Great location for whatever you\'re looking for, be it shopping, bar hoping, site seeing, touring, eating out, basically experiencing all that is Amsterdam.
- None of significance, only the fact that being so centrally located near the hustle and bustle of people and the nightlife, if you NEED to go to bed early, the streets below can be a bit noisy due to all the party animals. This could be solved with a bit more soundproofing.

Heather Davidson- The location was excellent right in the heart of everything. We had booked an executive room in the royal wing. The room was large modern spacious very comfortable and very clean. We loved the balcony over the city and enjoyed sitting out on it in the mornings and evenings soaking up the atmosphere of the city. The royal wing had its own private entrance and was not only private but very secure. We enjoyed staying at this hotel and would recommend it to others
- The only minus point was that check in was very slow. There were only 2 people on the desk and a very large queue - when we actually got to the top of the queue the service was quick and efficient - all that needs to be done is for more people to be on the check in desk at peak periods
5.2
Rosemary- The bed was large and comfortable The bathroom was nice, the shower worked OK The room was large and pleasantly furnished although perhaps a little spartan in style
- The Royal wing is entered using a swipe card which repeatedly failed for me as well as other guests meaning not only could I not get into the wing and my room, but found it difficult to get back into the hotel (the wing is separate from the main hotel). On several occasions I was left in the cold outside trying to get into the hotel The good Japanese restaurant has shut and the remaining restaurant - Reflet is overpriced
