This historical building used to function as an office on the old harbour front. This seems odd, but the canals, which used to surround the building, were in fact filled up at the end of the 19th century. What used to be the bustling hub of naval and shipping activity is now the bustling city centre of Amsterdam. As such, many companies closed down because of the decrease in naval activity in the area. The 18th and 19th century structures were often converted into apartments and hotels, which thanks to their excellent location were (and still are!) great bases for travellers seeking culture.

A continental breakfast is available on the ground floor which includes various types of bread, cereals and fruit, giving you a great start of the day. Also situated on the ground floor is a relaxing bar where you can enjoy typical Dutch liqueurs into the early hours.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is situated in the heart of Amsterdam's city centre. Various excursions and city trips can be arranged through the hotel. Many areas of interest are also within walking distance. The Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Scheepvaartmuseum (Shipping Museum) are easy to reach.
