Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam

Hotel details:

The hotel is situated only a few minutes away from Dam Square and many historical and cultural tourist sights. It is within walking distance of the Rembrandtplein, with its vibrant nightlife and is just a stone's throw away from one of the best known shopping streets of Amsterdam: the Kalverstraat. The Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam is an ideal choice of accommodation for those who love ease and sheer luxury in all aspects.

The restaurant Bridges, inspired by Ron Blaauw is located on the ground floor and offers you a stunning view onto the canals. At Bridges, inspired by Ron Blaauw everything revolves around fish: the best varieties of fish and always in the appropriate season. Bridges, inspired by Ron Blaauw offers a wide selection of fresh fish and fruits de mer at the restaurant, as well as in Raw Bar. From oysters to crab sandwiches, from delicate fish tartars to incredibly fresh fish: all prepared while you watch. It is also possible to dine privately and exclusively in the Private Lounge next to the restaurant, which has a view of the Vinothèque. In the evenings you can relax in the Vliegende Hollander Bar, an intimate setting where you can encounter the atmosphere of a traditional Dutch 'brown café'.

Amsterdam exudes a cosmopolitan atmosphere, even though its city centre is compact and easily accessible. From Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam you can reach the entire city centre, with its countless tourist sights, on foot. A canal roundtrip will lead you through the beautiful Amsterdam canals and is a great way to soak up the city's charming atmosphere.

Besides the luxurious rooms, there are also 17 multifunctional rooms equipped with every modern technical amenity. Here you can hold a meeting, a party or a dinner in a very exclusive setting. One of the rooms, the Council Chamber, was used in 1966 as the backdrop for the wedding celebrations of Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus.

The hotel's magic is emphasised again when you enter the lovely inner courtyard. Here you can lunch, dine or enjoy afternoon tea if weather permits. Furthermore, you can discover culinary enjoyment at the Restaurant Bridges, inspired by Ron Blaauw, or in the elegant Cocktail & Raw bar, after which you can relax in the SoSPA spa. Here you'll find a heated indoor swimming pool with a hot tub, a sauna, a Turkish steam bath, two treatment rooms and a gym. You'll want for nothing while you stay at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam.

“Excellent”
 • Fantastic hotel.
 • Difficult to obtain a drink in the foyer ground floor area, i had to go and chase a waiter from the adjoining restaurant and it then took an age for delivery of said beveridge. Why have a wonderful, comfortable and luxurious seating area with no one serving it?

 • The room was lovely and the bed excellent to sleep in. We had the breakfast in the room Sunday morning and it was very tasty and the service perfect.
 • I had booked the restaurant in your hotel for Saturday evening as it was a special evening for us and I had read that the Grand Hotel restaurant should be one of the best or even the best restaurant in Amsterdam. We have no complaints concerning the food but the service was not up to the standard we expected from the reputation and the advertisement you do. It seemed to lack co-ordination. We had eaten almost half of the enré before we were served the wine and we had tried to get the attention of one of your staff without success. I can mention here that it was a warm entré so by the time we got the wine, the food was almost cold. Coming to the main course we were not served the meat we had ordered but instead the waiter brought us fish. As we did not want to wait extra for the correct plate and not to destroy the evening for us we accepted the plates when they were served to us. However, we mentioned this to your staff but with no special reaction or appology from their side which made me feel disappointed. We would most certainly stay in your hotel next time we come to Amsterdam but personally I am not sure I will take a chance to visit your restaurant again.

 • Good restaurant, mostly nice craw.
 • We had ask for non smoking room, they give us a smoking room without any comments in the incheck. When we come back to ask for a new non smoking, the said, we have no non n.s. room, all are ockupaid, jes but sir, we ask for that in our reservation. \"Your reservation was made from internet, we have no responsible for that, we can't read and answer this. Floor 1-3 is non smoking and they are all ockupaid today madam. (We had another room on floor 4 with less smook) We checked in 20.30 in the evening, tired after travelling, I was not satisfaid with this guy and his answer. All the others crew was very serviceminded.

 • good location if you are on holiday but not that easily accessed due to work on the canal.
 • Very limited room service menu which was exaggeratedly over-priced. You will be compelled to eat outside the hotel which, for a woman traveling alone, is not always desirable. I had to ask twice for face towels, I had to ask for a pen in the room (they brought me an old chewed up BIC PEN The bed was old - very soft The pillows were rubbery and uncomfortable but I was told they didn\'t have feather pillows. The safe didn\'t work in my room. These details are unacceptable in a 5 star hotel and at these prices.
