Hotel Koningsherberg is located in the middle of the wonderful nature reserve of <i>Strubben-Kniphortbos</i>: the only archaeological reserve in the Netherlands. This area is known for its many ancient burial sites called <i>hunebedden</i> (dolmen). You can also find the remains of a prehistoric road, connecting Groningen and Coevorden. A stay at this rustic inn is a magnificent starting point for those wishing to explore this exceptional environment.

In the Koningsherberg you can enjoy the breakfast buffet every morning from 8:30 to 10:00 h. From 12:00 to 16:30 you can have lunch and dinner in the restaurant from 17:00 to 19:00, the restaurant closes at 21:00. The Herberg has a Dutch menu, you can order until 19:00. Outside the holidays, the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

In 2000 the vicinity of Anloo was declared to be the first archaeological reserve in the Netherlands. This is a woody area where you will find many heaths, prehistoric monuments such as dolmen, burial mounds and old cart tracks. A walk or bike ride is a great way to encounter all of this and much more. The inn is also close to Assen and Groningen, making it easy to explore the city as well as the countryside.

- The hotel does not have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check in from 14:00 until 18:00. If you wish to check in earlier or later, please contact the hotel in advance.
- The restaurant is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, except during the school holidays.
