Hotel Moeke Mooren is established at almost the same spot as where the farmhouse 'Het Veerhuis' was situated about a century ago. The accompanying pedestrians ferry was operated by a woman called 'Moeke Mooren' who transferred men and woman from bank to bank in any kind of weather. At present the hotel has a restaurant called 'Moeke's Kaffeej' where guests can relax with a cup of coffee with apple pie, a bite or a beverage. The panoramic terrace is a great place to enjoy the lovely scenery on bright days. From the conservatory one has a view of the lakes of nature reserve 'De Gouden Ham'.

Breakfast is served daily from 07:00 to 10:00 h.The cosy restaurant 'De Gruijterij' offers a lovely view of the river Maas. The menu changes with the seasons.

De Tuinen van Appeltern is a large park with over 190 different concept gardens, ranging from small patio gardens to vast landscaped gardens. Each garden is different in terms of form, size and layout. There are trendy gardens and designer gardens, a Dr. Vogel's herb garden, English and Japanese gardens, a sculpture garden and many more special gardens. The park also has a great playground for children.
