Van der Valk Hotel Assen offers four different family rooms for up to 5 people and no fewer than six different themed suites.

The hotel features a spacious, heated indoor swimming pool with beautiful views of the adjacent forest. The stylish pool provides an ultimate holiday feeling. In addition, there is a modern fitness room and an extensive wellness center with five different saunas, including a salt sauna, a herbal sauna with aroma scents, and an infrared sauna. You can cool off under the bucket shower and relax in the relaxation area.

Every morning from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM, an extensive Live Cooking breakfast buffet is available for all hotel guests. Restaurant 28Dining is open for lunch and dinner. The menu is varied and incorporates vegetables and herbs from the hotel’s own garden. In summer, the terrace is a pleasant place to sit. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Every Saturday evening, there is a Live Cooking buffet, where children can bake cookies in the children’s kitchen and enjoy themselves at Kids City, which includes a bouncy castle. Reservations are recommended for the Live Cooking buffet.

From Van der Valk Hotel Assen, you can easily explore the nature of Drenthe, known for its natural beauty, village greens, and megalithic tombs (hunebeds). The province offers thousands of kilometers of signposted cycling routes. Especially for hotel guests, there is a lit and covered bicycle storage area with charging points, secured with a code lock. You can also explore nature on foot, for example in Dwingelderveld National Park, De Hondsrug, and Drouwenerzand. The hotel offers various cycling and walking routes.

2. Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen
Nearby is Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen, a 24-hectare park divided into three themed areas: jungle, savannah, and polar region. Discover more than 250 animal species, cruise through the jungle, view giraffes and elephants from a safari truck, and admire polar bears, penguins, and sea lions in the polar area. Allow at least half a day to a full day for a visit, depending on your pace.

3. Plopsa Indoor Coevorden
In Dalen, you will find Plopsa Indoor Coevorden, a partially indoor amusement park that is part of the Plopsa Group, the theme park division of Studio 100. The attractions are themed around Studio 100 characters such as Samson & Gert, Kabouter Plop, K3, Mega Mindy, Bumba, Bobo, and Wickie the Viking.

4. TT Circuit Assen
For adrenaline seekers, TT Circuit Assen is a must. TT stands for Tourist Trophy and refers to the famous annual motorcycle race in Assen. The circuit is well known nationally and internationally and hosts various motorsport events, including the MotoGP TT Assen, the Superbike World Championship, and the British Superbike Championship.

5. Drents Museum
The Drents Museum in Assen offers a combination of archaeology, art, and history. In addition to internationally renowned exhibitions, the museum has an impressive permanent collection with a focus on archaeology and Dutch visual art, including the world-famous bog bodies such as the Girl of Yde.
