In the heart of the smallest village of the island Ameland lies the characteristic Nobel hotel-restaurant. The company is run by the fourth generation of the Nobel family and is well-known for the local liqueur 'Nobeltje'. The founder, Willem Barend Nobel, has developed the beverage in 1902. Since then it has grown into one of the most renowned Ameland specialities. The rich history of the family is well documented and can be discovered in the liquor store. Tastings with a viticulturist are often organized and many delicacies are sold there.

Breakfast is served daily between 08:00 and 10:00 h.The stylish restaurant has a excellent kitchen that serves dishes that originate from the French cuisine. All parts of the dish are home-made according to an, often personal, recipe. The restaurant is open from 18:00 to 21:00 h. The café has a (partly heated) terrace and is a popular place for locals and tourists to join together with a 'Nobeltje' liqueur or a 'Ballumer' coffee. The café was even awarded by Misset Horeca as best Dutch café of 2007. The cosy lounge is also a good place to relax. Guests may have dinner there as well.

Ameland is a very versatile island. It is renowned for its 28 kilometres of lovely beaches. Even in the high season one can still find a quiet place there. With the Nobel hotel as a base, one can make beautiful hikes or cycle trips. Enjoy the perfect mix of pasture, dune, coastal and wooded landscapes that the island has to offer.
