Hotel De Fortuna is located in five characteristic mansions that are typical for the province Noord-Holland. The picturesque family-run hotel has an equally lovely location. The hotel is located on the water. Here guests can relax and enjoy themselves among the beautiful plants and flowers.

The breakfast buffet is served from 07:30 to 10:00 h. On request guests can have breakfast at a later or earlier time. In the a la carte restaurant guest can have lunch every day from 12:00 to 15:00 h. Guests can have dinner starting from 18:00 h. The restaurant is open on Sunday from 17:30 h. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance. In the restaurant guests are served seasonal specialities that are traditionally prepared. The dining room breathes an authentic Dutch atmosphere. After dinner guests can have a nice drink in the atmospheric bar and on sunny days guests can have dinner in the garden as well.

Edam is a small city with a long history that dates from the 12th century. This can be seen clearly as you walk along the many picturesque canals, streets, alleyways, bridges, and gables. Additionally, Edam has an atmospheric centre with many nice shops and lively terraces. Edam is especially famous for its large round cheeses. Every Wednesday in July and August there is a traditional cheese market. Guests can also enjoy a good bus connection to Amsterdam.

“Fab hotel in fab town of Edam”

Most lovely dining breakfast room I have ever seen. So many interesting artworks on the walls, etchings and antiques. Claus the owner, very cordial, very helpful to us as tourists. Room in separate small building, with window overlooking a canal. We watched the ducks and a swan every morning Lovely garden area, must be heaven in the spring and summer, with plentiful flowers and the cool breeze from the canal. Very lovely place in a charming, well-healed Dutch town.
Small Edam museum closed in the off-season, we were disappointed. The Grote Church never was open during the weekdays we spent in Edam. Nothing else negative about our visit.

“Beautiful hotel in beautiful small town”

Restaurant was very good and nice location for wandering around the town of Edam which is very quaint and picturesque. Room was very clean but really was overloaded with furniture and the wash basin was not in the bathroom which was odd. Hosts were very kind and would recommend this hotel. Thank you for your hospitality
Parking is OK but you do have to walk a hundred meters back to the the hotel. As mentioned above room was a little odd - room 42 with too many thing packed into it we thought.

the restaurant had very excellent meals.
The room was very small. no wastable in the shower room. The shower room was very narrow. If I had taken my husband he wouldnot have been abel to washhimself n the shower

Beautiful location in historic building with helpful staff.
Room access quite difficult with luggage as up steep spiral staircase.

“Edam The Most restful place to end a 2 Month world trip.”

Everything was fine. Personal was helpful.Even tried to fix my computer problem. Next time we would ask for the room with more space, which the good owner-manager said they have.
we only were not sure about the free parking card that apparently was supposed to go back to the hotel as they told us in a email after we had left, my lovely wife threw it away. Sorry about that. There is no parking on the property.

“Quintessential dutch ambience”

The hotel was quintessential dutch and will appeal to tourist from other countries. Having the restaurant as part of the complex was an extra bonus. The staff were very accomadating.
The room was a bit too small for us if we had to stay for more than one night. It would be good to show more photos of the different options for rooms on the website.
