Thanks to its convenient location, the Bastion Hotel offers good road links to the city centre of Groningen and its surroundings. A 5-minute drive will take you to the Martiniplaza Events Hall, the University, and the UMCG Hospital. A bus stop is situated in front of the hotel, providing good public transport links towards the Martiniplaza, Groningen city centre, and the bus/railway station.

An extensive breakfast buffet is served every morning between 06:00 and 09:00, and at weekends from 07:00 until 10:30. It's also possible to order a packed lunch at a cost of €7.50 per person.A delicious lunch and an excellent dinner are available in the attractive restaurant, which is open from 11:00 until 23:00. The à la carte menu features a selection of international dishes for you to choose from.You are welcome to enjoy a a drink and bite to eat in the cosy bar, which is open until 23:30.

Besides offering good access routes to the motorway, the Bastion Hotel Groningen is also within easy reach of Groningen's vibrant city centre. A 15-minute drive will take you to one of the car parks around the car-free centre where you can continue on foot. What's more, a 15-minute bus journey will take you straight to Groningen Central Station. A must on your list should be the Folkingestraat, a side street leading up from the Zuiderdiep. It's the city's most charming shopping street and is often dubbed 'Little Amsterdam'. This street is packed with a diverse mix of restaurants, cafes, galleries, antique and curiosity shops. If you're heading towards the Central Station you'll also catch a glimpse of the eccentrically designed Groninger Musem, highly recommended for art lovers.

The cosy rooms feature an en suite bathroom with a shower and a toilet. All rooms come with twin beds, a work space equipped with free wireless Internet (WiFi), and a telephone in addition to a television with a free video channel, a mini-bar and Nespresso machine. You'll also find a folder in your room offering tourist information. “goog hotel after shopping-partying in Groningen”

Good price ( we had a good deal), 5 min driving from downtown Groningen.
nothing really bad. Just 1 small negative experience: we came home at 4 am after a night out and had to wait 15min in the cold because apperently nobody heard the doorbell. There was someone in the breakfast area and when she finally opended the door she was pretty rude! Guess finishing her work was more important then taking care of paying guest. But that was just one rotten apple. Rest of the staff was great!

“Business and city hotel with sober atmoshere”

Very nice service. Beds comfortable. Hygiene excellent. Facilities perfect. Bus stop to town directly in front of the hotel.
Air condition was okay, but windows could not be opened at all. Surroundings are still under construction.

an ok breakfast nice staff
no containers of shower gel and shampoo in the rooms, just small bags it was confusing that some of the items from the minibar were laid out on a table. i had to read the instructions to know if they were free or not. the dinner wasn\'t very good. the sauce tasted like something from a bag and the chocolate mousse too. the meat was good though and the presentation.

Staff were very friendly and helpful-and of course spoke perfect English as nearly all Dutch people do! We will come back,and would not hesitate to recommend your hotel to others.I have already done so.Nice chocolate too! Thanks,Kevin
A bit concerned when we heard that a few m/bikes had been stolen from the car park the previous year.Maybe at a later date,a fenced-off area for bikes could be added,and the hotel could advertise a \"safe secure\" bike park. Just a thought.

Second time here, went with my husband for the Assen TT... the staff are great, very helpful, no 73 bus for the center of town stops right outside the hotel.
Breakfast is buffet style, but the fly\'s always beat you to it, they were all over the food, so we tended to go into town. evening meals are cooked fresh, but the choice is limited, we had the dutch steak which was very tough. very small garden leading from the restaurant, over looking a busy road. saying that! we would still go back

Room had a safe for valuables. Nice shower.
Thin walls, some noise at night. Bed was unmade (pillow missing) and fixing it was a hassle. They were confused about the room pricing.

Room were fine and we would like to stay at this hotel another time, yes.
It wasn´t a good stay, but only because we were waked from the fire department, because some young sportler pressed the fire alarm. So because we were late to bed, we didn´t sleep this night and had to go back to denamrk next morning. I really think it was a bad and difficult thing for the young man at the reception that it´s happend and for me the baddest thing were, that the young people from the sportgroup laughed at us ( we were not \"finish-dressed\" as we came out. And as we heard from the leader of the group, that they had done exactly the same in a hotel in germany the week before, we were very angry. It would have been nice, if the hotel had given us a cup of coffie before we left after a night without enough sleep and without breakfast. But again - it wasn´t easy for the young man to handl a hotel and firealarm.
