The names Martini tower and Martini church stem from Saint Martin, the medieval holy man: Martin of Tours, who was the patron of the bishop of Utrecht, a province to which Groningen had once belonged to.

- if all you want is a bed for the night, this is where you can get a nice clean bed at a superb location.
- the rooms are a bit claustrophobic as they are supposed too be for this price. But you are only sleeping there anyway.
