Opposite the Gedempte Zuiderdiep canal, where the Martini Hotel Centre Groningen is situated, the Herestraat commences. This street offers a wide variety of well-known chains of establishments. If you prefer smaller boutiques and vintage shops, you will certainly enjoy the Folkingestraat. Groningen is often referred to as the 'cultural capital of the North'. Evidence leading to this title can be found easily whilst visiting the theatres Stadsschouwburg,De Oosterpoort or the Groninger Museum.

“A good place to sleep when visiting the city”
- No noise, a good breakfast, and a friendly service
- The room was very sober, which was no problem, as we only wanted a place to sleep and to shower

“A comfy stay in Groningen”
- The staff was very friendly and the breakfast very good. the room was perfect for the 3 of us although I would have have put 3 glasses instead of 2 in the bathroom. The restaurant was amazing and open late.
- The fan didn t work in the bathroom and nothing was done about it, so I went to buy air freshener and toilet cleaner. This is the only minus of our stay.

“Good but could be improved..”
- The beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean and hygeinic. There was a large selection of programs on the TV, and I liked the way the key to the room operated all the electronics.
- The WIFI was very poor. As a person who uses the internet to connect with friends back home, this was a big inconvience and disappointment as I could hardly check social networks or contact family without the WIFI disconnecting every 5 seconds.

- Kleine kamer, maar voldoende voor een of twee overnachtingen. De inrichting was erg spartaans

- Close to centre of town. Good reception by staff. Personalised WiFi access.
- Varying daily tariff over the period of stay. Total price quoted should preferably reflect tourist tax - to avoid unpleasant surprise when checking out. Access to certain floors via bar rather inconvenient.

“Great location, but unexpected costs and unfriendly staff was a turnof”
- Very clean. Great location, walking distance from De Oosterpoort, markets and Groninger Museum.
- We were very dissapointed to hear that the private parking had a fee of 12,50 euros per day and that it was full. We had to par the car at a fee of 17 euros per day. Those unexpected costs are not a nice way to start you vacation. The staff wasn't very friendly or helpful in this. The room was okay but the double bed was just two single matresses put together (and as a couple that isn't great). Also the bathroom was so tiny that for Dutch people it was hard to even move there at all.

“Martini Hotel - a quaint place to stay in the heart of Groningen”
- Great location! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Had dinner at the restaurant which was very good.
- One drawback was it was a little noisy at night from where our room was located - could hear people talking outside in the street and all hours of the night. Also, the wireless internet connection was not very strong in our room - had to go to the lobby to use internet.
