The NH Groningen Hotel is situated on the Hanzeplein in Groningen's pleasant city centre. The hotel is located opposite the UMCG hospital. Groningen has a number of beautiful squares with impressive architecture. Good examples include the Stadhuis town hall on the Grote Markt and the Korenbeurs on the Vismarkt. Culture lovers will appreciate a trip to the Groninger Museum or the small-scale Noordelijk Scheepvaart en Tabak Museum, the latter of which is established in monumental 15th century premises. The Grote Markt and the Vismarkt are connected via little shopping streets with a range of speciality shops and good restaurants. Groningen also boasts many bars, cafés and pubs. You certainly won't be bored here!
An extensive breakfast buffet is available on weekdays and Saturday from 07:00 until 11:00, and on Sunday from 08:00 until 12:00. The restaurant's kitchen has an international menu with dishes ranging from regional Groningse mustard soup to French seafood courses. The restaurant offers a large choice of dishes and is open daily from 17:30 until 22:00.

- Helpfull staff especially the room cleaner who found 30 euros in my waste bin and left it out with a note for me!! Relaxed but professional atmosphere .

- The situation, very closed to the city center.
- There was a bad smell in the bathroom of the room. The room was not very well aconditioned against noise.

“Good value, no unexpected disappointments”
- No fuss. New interior, no top design, but nice enough. Free upgrade to bigger room was nice. The staff was forthcoming and the price was not bad at all.
- The road next to the hotel is a bit busy. The beds are (as in most hotels) pretty low in comfort, this is always surprising to me as it is the primary thing I'm willing to pay for. My wife found a couple of hairs in the bath tub (ewww!), but to be honest I'd probably have missed them.

“Only to be be let down by the Internet connection”
- Ten minutes walk from the main town centre with plenty of Restaurants and Bars to suit all flavours. The service was very good, staff were very polite and helpful. The free use a bicycle was an added bonus and allowed for ease of movement around the town.
- The wireless internet (Swisscom) 30mins free with vouchers was only in the reception area; in addition one would spend more time logging in as the connectivity would constantly dropoff. This is quite important for a buisness trip and I have to return a negative response.

- not possible to switch some of the ligths of: above the bed alone readinglight or all. difficult to find out wich switch to use for ther upright standing shower. breakfast good but very expensive
