Pension Tivoli is situated in an atmospheric area on the Zuiderdiep in the centre of Groningen. Here you'll find many cosy bars and restaurants, and a large cinema is located right across the street. The central railway station is within easy walking distance, as is the Groninger Museum.

The guesthouse does not have a restaurant and as such does not offer breakfast. You'll find many places where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner within the direct vicinity, for instance, on the Zuiderdiep or the Vismarkt.Enjoy a drink in the café below the guesthouse. The café is open Tuesday through Thursday from 14:00 until 23:00, and on Friday and Saturday from 14:00 until 22:00. The café is closed on Sunday and Monday.

You can easily explore the university town of Groningen on foot from Pension Tivoli. Walk through the Folkingestraat past lovely shops and intimate restaurants and you'll come to the Vismarkt, where a market is held several times a week. The Grote Markt square is surrounded by many bars and terraces; you'll also find the city's famous Martinitoren (Martini Tower) here. Many local and regional buses stop in front of the guesthouse allowing you to easily discover other parts of Groningen; both in the city as well as in the province of Groningen.

“Great Value”

The location was central with all you needed near by. The room was quite, very spacious, separate toilet, sower and a kitchen with kettle, microwave, table and chairs. The décor and furniture was basic but clean. The only noise was from outside as people moved around the main street. The bar below was welcoming and reasonably priced with good service. I would recommend this Pension over other hotels we have used in the area, especially during Assen TT weekend.
The stairs are steep but safe to use with care.

Staircase is very steep. Reception closes at 8pm.

“Groningen is a historical town well worth visiting. ”

Closeness to the centre of town. Everything is at your fingertips.
Nothing to do with the hotel but take noisy bloody motor bikes of the road there.

“Nice and clean, but there is a pub downstairs. ”

It is really clean and the rooms look nice. It is located near to the shops and restaurants. There is a cinema in front of the hotel.
There is a pub downstairs that doesn't leave you sleep very well. The people that is on the pub have most of the time access to the Pension Tivoli and makes you feel uncomfortable. One room's hitting didn't work really well and it was cold. They didn't give us the Wireless password to use the Internet.

“basic and spartan but cheap, central and easy to find.”

Cheap, central, no fuss, owner nice and straightforward. Basic but sufficient for a short stay without much needs. Tea and coffee, microwave and water boiler provided. Has single rooms.
Corridor is unheated and leads to an outer patio without proper insulation: wear a coat to go to the toilet or shower! Bring your towel, those given are too small to take the cold corridor. No fridge. Poor soundproofing. Cash only, no debit or credit cards

“Look beyond the staircase!”

Upon seeing the steep staircase we were a little worried, but our rooms were clean and accommidating. The location was also very good. For the price we were quite satisfied

Cheap; convenient for the City Centre, and only one block from Groningen's red-light district
Little thought has been given to mitigating noise: fellow guests often arrived back in the early hours of the morning (when the bars close and the hot women go cold) and often woke me up as they clattered upstairs and rammed their keys into their room doors
