Liège lies on the river Meuse, 30 kilometres south of Maastricht. Liège is a true art city with countless interesting museums; such as La Boverie, which houses works by Picasso, Chagall and Gauguin. This ultramodern, transparent building was designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. While staying in Liège it's fun to climb the 375 steps of Montagne de Bueren, running from the city centre up to the citadel. Liège is furthermore surrounded by greenery. The city borders the nature reserve of the High Fens and the Meuse Valley. The beautiful Le Parc de Château Colonster is also a wonderful place for a stroll.
