Hotel de Nieuwe Doelen lies on the centre's edge of the old trading town of Middelburg. This beautiful city was founded more than a thousand years ago, but it's certainly not old-fashioned. Busy shopping streets, cosy bars and pavement cafés, and not to mention a wide choice of restaurants. The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere as well as a lively bar. Situated behind the hotel is a large idyllic private garden with seating and a view of the medieval abbey complex, the Lange Jan. The hotel is located near the main railway station.
An extensive breakfast buffet is available from 07:00 until 10:30. Breakfast is also served in the garden during the summer months. You can enjoy a tasty drink in the attractive hotel bar, which is open from 07:00 until 23:00.
Hotel De Nieuwe Doelen Middelburg is located on the island of Walcheren with its picturesque villages, vast beaches and high dunes. Popular day trip destinations include the Delta Expo, the city of Rotterdam, or the nearby Belgian cities of Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent.

- They served sour milk for breakfast and the fruit juices were far from fresh. The bathroom was old.

- Location near railway station and 5 minutes from downtown (old town) is perfect. Staff could not be more helpful. First-rate breakfast service.
- All minor - Lumpy pillows. No facial tissue in rooms. No toiletries such as are usually found in hotel rooms.

“THE place to be when in Middelburg”
- Great Staff, great location, and the breakfast is the one you always hope to find but seldom get. Tasty Dutch broodjes (rolls), good coffee, well cooked eggs, cheese that tastes like cheese. I had a wonderful sunny room with a nice view on the water and the Middelburg train station. The interior may be a little dated, but clean and with the nice authentic flavor (not run down at all). Love it and will absolutely come back. PS loved the young woman at the reception
- Sorry the beds are too soft - seems easy so change that with a plank under the mattress

- From the advertisement they make the hotel appear to look like a castle. I think the price is too much considering the rooms.

“24 hours in Middelburg”
- nice size room for a Europe. very very clean. good size breakfast and nice bar. staff was extremely polite and helpful. i would definitely stay here again. walkable to town center.
- shower with glass door was in room, not in an area separated by a door. (guests were a mother and son). hotel could put up a standing curtain to separate shower and sinks from rest of room.

- Very friendly service, breakfast buffet great value for money, spotless clean toilet and bathroom, very close to the railway station.
- Room is relatively small, but that is a problem only if you want to spend time in your hotel room. For 1-2 persons who need the hotel room to sleep in, to change clothes and take a shower there is more than enough space.

“nice town hotel with excellent staff”
- New bathrooms, nice bar, very near to the city, very clean, good and various breakfast, very friendly service staff
- no parking possibilities belonging to the hotel, the rooms leading to the channel were very loud, no possibility to open a window, there were only doors, to small to put in an extra bed
