Schoorl is located just north of Alkmaar, near the beautiful village of Bergen. Schoorl is separated from the sea by the 'Schoorlse Duinen', a nature area with the widest and highest stretch of dunes in the Netherlands. Alkmaar has numerous interesting attractions, including the famous cheese market as well as many old canals and 16th century buildings.

An extensive breakfast buffet is served between 07:00 and 10:00 on weekdays, and between 08:00 and 11:00 at weekends. Restaurant Kannunik offers culinary feats in an informal setting. The restaurant is open for lunch from 12:00 until 17:00, and for dinner from 18:00 until 22:00. In the cosy bar, 'De Trappist', you can relax with a drink or a snack. The kitchen closes at 21:30, but the bar itself is open from 17:00 until 01:00.

Schoorl is known for the 'Schoorlse Duinen', the largest area of dunes in the Netherlands. This area is perfect for a good walk or bike ride. Within a short distance of Schoorl is the artistic village of Bergen, renowned for the 'Bergense School' style which orginated there. Many painters and other artists settled in this village in the early 20th century, partly because of the area's unusual light.
