Hotel De Woudzoom is situated on the edge of the charming village of Spier, and is surrounded by lots of green countryside. The hotel is easy to reach, near the A28 motorway between Assen and Hoogeveen. The hotel's atmospheric entrance has a high ceiling with wooden panelling and a sizeable chandelier. You are very welcome at Hotel De Woudzoom, where you can enjoy peace and quiet, as well as the beautiful countryside.

A breakfast buffet is served from Monday to Friday from 07:00 - 10:00, and at weekends from 08:30 - 10:30. Hotel-Restaurant de O.P.2 offers a good menu including 3-course dinners. It is also possible to order à la carte dishes. The restaurant specialises in regional cuisine. Blonde d’ Aquitaine cattle graze close to the hotel. This blonde breed of beef cattle are known for their tender, yet hearty meat. Further along on the Dwingelderveld are Drenthe moorland sheep, the lamb meat of which is highly regarded among connoisseurs. Weathering permitting, guests can also enjoy the heated outdoor terrace with a drink and dinner if desired.

Hotel De Woudzoom Spier is only 200 m from Dwingelderveld National Park, a wonderful area for walking and cycling. Two-thirds of its 3,700 hectares is made up of woods, while the rest is heathland. Take a walk across the heaths and you're likely to spot a flock of sheep. Walking and cycling routes are available at the hotel. What's more, rising above the tree tops in the middle of this park is a 50-year-old radio telescope. This telescope once aided the discovery of two galaxies: Dwingeloo I and II. Stargazing enthusiasts can pay a visit to the Planetarium in Dwingeloo.
