In the centre of Veendam lies Hotel Parkzicht. The hotel owes its name, which means 'Park View' to all the trees, fountains, and open spaces of Park City Veendam. Next to the hotel you will find the 'Veenkoloniaal Museum', which is dedicated to the history of the peat-soil and peat-cutters of this area.
In the morning the hotel serves a breakfast buffet from 06:30 to 10:00 h. Guests can have breakfast from 08:00 to 11:00 h. on weekends. In Grand Café Restaurant 't Plein you are welcome to enjoy a nice drink and enjoy the diverse national and international dishes. After dinner you can casually relax in the armchairs by the atmospheric fireplace.
From Hotel Parkzicht you can take wonderful bike rides through the lovely countryside of the provinces Groningen or Drenthe. At the hotel you can find information about various routes and possibilities. It is also possible to pay a visit to the fortress town 'Bourtange'. This town's remarkable history dates back to the Eighty Years' War. The spa 'Nieuweschans' and the city of Groningen are also well-worth visiting. “Hotel Parkzicht Veendam for Assen TT - good location, no hellraisers”
- The hotel is located in the centre of a pedestrian cyclist priority zone with limited vehicular access, but the hotel has a dedicated, gated car park to the rear with an entrance via a street just outside the zone perfect. The hotel is in a great position for walking to nearby bars and restaurants, and has the best restaurant out of those, with a good choice of food and drink.
- Quite a dated hotel, with small twin rooms (beds are next to each other) that cannot be separated. Also not a lot of soundproofing between rooms if you have noisy neighbours and outside for late night revellers. Recommend earplugs. Generally well appointed though, with TV, tea coffee, en-suite shower toilet, shampoo and soap.
