Hotel Callecanes lies in the village of Watou, which is known for its two beer breweries. The yearly event Poëziezomer (summer of poetry) attracts many visitors. Starting at the hotel it only takes 20 minutes by car to reach Ieperen, a town that plays an important role in the commemoration of WWI. Here you can visit the Flanders Fields Museum. Watou is also a good starting point for a bicycle tour, for instance to the coast or to French-Flanders.
