Hotel details:

The name 'Sans pareil' translates to 'unlike any other', which refers to the landscape that surrounds the hotel. On the outside terrace guests can order a nice snack or drink while enjoying the view of the 'Zaanse Schans'. This open air museum with its mills and characteristic green wooden houses each year attracts many visitors from all over the world.

The breakfast buffet is served on weekdays from 07:00 to 10:00 h. On weekends these breakfast times are extended. At the restaurant the staff serve seasonal specialities, which are prepared with fresh produce. Guests can have lunch here from 12:00 h. Dinner service starts at 18:00 h. In the café one can order drinks and dishes from the small menu. Several special beers are available at the bar. There is a reading table as well, where guests can read the newspaper. The restaurant is a non-smoking area. Smoking is allowed in the café.

The vast landscape with the old-Dutch mills and the green wooden houses on the horizon offers a breathtaking view. At the 'Zaanse Schans' there are also various museums. “No way four star, but location ok”
  • Was not far from a rail station for access to central Amsterdam
  • Was definitely not a 4 star hotel, between 2 and 3 maximum. Room was cold with average cleanliness, breakfast was poor.

  • mosquitos in room(need screens on the window), breakfast limited to 2 cups of coffee(was great coffee),

“Don't expect a 4* hotel!”
  • Location fantastic, lovely Dutch village. Very easy to get to from Amsterdam and about 8 mins from train. Beautiful bakery across the road. Restaurant very good, small and cosy, and staff friendly.
  • Room was very basic. Carpet dirty and shabby. No shampoo. Room was too hot (although heating off?!) and musty and stuffy. Got badly bitten by mosquitos as we had to keep window open and river outside. Staff unfriendly on check out and didn\'t ask if everything was ok.

  • My room was comfortable and good view of the river, although quite small in size, there was a bar in the hotel which was good as there was not much else in the town.but it was nice to be away from city centre.
  • breakfast was not good and not everything there so you had to ask for things, also they were to quick taking things away, lights in bedroom hard to work out as you had to look for tiny black buttons which nobody told you about.

  • Easy enough to find, across the road from a pub and a bakery. Not far to Amsterdam central on the train (by our standards, but apparently far by Dutch standards - 11km).
  • A bit of building going on in the vicinity so we were without power on the first morning. However the hotel did notify us of the times that the power would be off so that we could time our showers. I think possibly we had a discount on the stay for this reason also.

  • Very good location with the windmills and station very close.
  • There were tu cups that we used for the coffe that we have in our luggage. Since we do not use their coffee, they removed the cups on the second day.

  • Really loved staying at this hotel - friendly people, comfortable, easy going, great location. Food at lunch and dinner times was TRULY exemplery, as good as many top London restaurants.
  • Just 1 minus point: the breakfast was poor. If this could be improved then this hotel would surely be 5 star. This won\'t put me off staying again though, as there\'s a great bakery opposite serving an amazing selection of cakes and pastries (sweet & savoury), plus good coffee.
