Hotel De Halve Maan Bovenkarspel is a good, old-fashioned, family-run hotel in the centre of this cosy town. The hotel offers many facilities including a sun terrace and bike hire. In addition, the hotel has an excellent restaurant serving French-Dutch cuisine.

The hotel serves a delicious breakfast, every morning between 08:00 and 10:00. You can enjoy dinner in the nice restaurant from 17:00 until 21:00. The kitchen has a French-Dutch orientation and offers a carefully selected 3-course menu that changes every month allowing you to always eat in accordance with the season. Refreshments are available at the hotel bar from 12:00 to 24:00.

De Halve Maan lies in the pleasant town centre of Bovenkarspel, which had established along the Hoofdstraat over the centuries. Just north of Bovenkarspel is a vast recreational area called 'Het Streekbos'. Here you'll find a wonderful sandy beach, two ANWB cycling routes and various footpaths, among other things. This region offers many more possibilities for active hotel guests. Not far from the hotel are lovely 'Zuiderzee towns' such as Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Medemblik, Volendam, and Marken. A few minutes' walk from the hotel will lead you to the IJsselmeer, where you can go windsurfing, sailing, or take a nice boat trip from Enkhuizen to Stavoren. Lovers of windmills can visit the Ceres windmill in Bovenkarspel; an octagonal tower mill dating back to 1848. This mill is still used today to grind organic wheat.
