From 08:00 to 10:30 h. guests can have breakfast in the Abdij van Dokkum. If you wish to have breakfast at an earlier time, you can arrange this in consultation with the staff. In the café and restaurant 'De Refter' you can have a good dinner. The kitchen is known as a no-nonsense establishment and is based on honest products and healthy craftmanship. On sunny days you can also enjoy a drink or a snack in the atmospheric patio.

Hotel de Abdij has a beautiful location in Dokkum, one of the 11 cities on the route of the legendary ice skating event the 'Elfstedentocht'. It is equally famous as the place where the missionary 'Bonifatius' was murdered in 754 AD. Dokkum is the northernmost city in The Netherlands and is located between the clay area 'Kleistreek' and the woods 'Friese Wouden'. In the city you can admire such attractions as the 'Admiraliteitshuis' museum, the 'St. Bonifatius' church, and the city walls. It is a good starting point for a walk or bike ride as well. You can also take the boat or go on a guided hiking tour to the Frisian island Ameland.
