The building of Dordrecht's former water company provides a special, atmospheric ambience, which nowadays houses Hotel Villa Augustus. The hotel has a restaurant and a shop, 'De Markt'. The listed buildings stand prominently on the large, green grounds measuring 3.7 acres. Twenty of the hotel's rooms are situated in the old water tower, with 4 rooms on each floor. The water tower has a lift and the other rooms are spread across the annexes. The hotel lies within 1.5 kilometres of Dordrecht's railway station.



Guests staying at Villa Augustus won't even need to leave the grounds as there is plenty to see and do in and around the hotel. Besides the large vegetable garden with seasonal produce and herbs, there is also an orchard. The Italian garden and pleasure garden are also cherished places for visitors and hotel guests alike. The view of Merwehoofd, where the river Merwee splits into the North and Old Meuse, has been immortalised by painters. Museum de Rietgors houses a large collection of paintings where this unique fall of light is rendered visible. A trip by water bus, for instance towards Rotterdam is also highly recommended. Young theatre lovers will also appreciate a trip to Poppenlos in the De Willem Theatre, where you'll also find performances for adults.
