The beautiful nature area 'Weerribben' are about 30 kilometres away and such villages as Blokzijl, Urk and Lemmer are also easy to reach. A visit to the nearby world heritage site 'Schokland' is recommended as well. The museum that is located here offers visitors a good insight in the history of the 'Noordoostpolder' area.
