Simply grab a hot tea or coffee at De Promenade café next to the ticket office, and enjoy your breakfast onboard. While Oosterpark doesn't serve lunch or dinner itself, you'll find plenty of options in the centre of Harlingen, especially when it comes to seafood restaurants.

Harlingen has a pleasant centre with no less than 500 listed buildings as well as several small museums. But above all, Harlingen is known for the IJsselmeer Dam, only 8 kilometres to the south, and of course its ferry links to the islands of Terschelling and Vlieland. Harlingen has a train station, making it incredibly easy to reach, and it's also perfect for taking day trips. The famous Planetarium in nearby Franeker (7 km) is an absolute must. This museum has even been nominated for the Unesco World Heritage list.
