Herberg de Waard van Ternaard is a hospitable hotel with an interior full of atmosphere. It is established in an authentic Frisian countryhouse, and is furnished with wood and marble. The inn was decorated by Pilat & Pilat. The hotel has a car park, a restaurant, a garden and an outdoor terrace on the lovely village square, where you'll be able to soak up the rays of sunshine. Ternaard itself is a beautiful village with friendly residents.

Breakfast is served daily from 08:30 - 10:30.The inn does not have a bar, but it is still possible to enjoy a drink as long as the inn is open.You can enjoy a warm meal at the restaurant from Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 - 20:00.

From Herberg de Waard van Ternaard you can easily take a trip to the Wadden islands or visit one of the villages in the area. The village of Ternaard is a 10-minute drive from Holwerd, where the boat to Ameland departs. It is only a 15-minute drive to Dokkum and 30 minutes to Leeuwarden. Dokkum is a nice place to visit and is also one of the towns on the Frisian speed skating tour: <i>elfstedentocht</i> (eleven cities tour). It is particularly nice to sit on an outdoor terrace by the canal and watch the world go by. The <i>Lauwersmeer</i> nature area is just 15 km from the hotel.

Hergberg de Waard van Ternaard is situated in a historic building dating from 1860. This former inn lies on the village square. At the inn you can hire bikes, and there are various lovely cycling and walking routes in the area. You can cycle around the <i>Lauwersmeer</i> national park, and enjoy the vast landscape. You can also explore the area by boat or go sailing on the <i>Lauwersmeer</i> lake. A trip to the islands of Ameland or Schiermonnikoog is also recommended.
